In this week’s episode, Hannah and Ali talk all things Intuitive Eating principle #5: Discover the Satisfaction Factor. They are joined by registered dietitian and certified intuitive eating counselor Kathleen Meehan. Kathleen is passionate about satisfying food and respectful care for all bodies, and helps people reconnect to their needs through curiosity and a practice of non-judgmental awareness so she was the perfect guest to answer all your listener questions about satisfaction. How do you reconnect with pleasure in eating when you’ve lived your whole life according to food rules? How do you know you’re satisfied with a meal? What do you look for and where do I start to connect to satisfaction? What if the only foods that satisfied you were high in sugar and fat or fast food? How can I be certain that if I let myself be satisfied I won’t eat forever and ever? Is it true sweeteners make you more hungry and you’ll end up eating more? The idea of truly allowing satisfaction can be a tricky one as diet culture has co-opted this concept once again with fear and anti-fat bias. Diet culture wants us to believe that adding pleasure or satisfaction is indulgence but Hannah, Ali and Kathleen are here to tell you this important principle is possible for all. This episode will give you all the goods on this fifth Intuitive Eating principle and be sure to leave you feeling satisfied!
